2021 Irish Treffen cancelled

29th March 2021

Dear Club Members,

The committee convened a Zoom conference call on Friday 26th March 2021 to discuss a number of issues of concern to the club. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed resulting in the decision to cancel this year's 2021 Irish Treffen and our annual Spring Wing Ding. This decision was made to ensure the club continues to conform to NPHET and HSE guidelines. Unfortunately, all other official club activities will remain cancelled until further notice or until government restrictions are removed.

The question of club membership was also discussed as there were a number of questions and enquiries to be addressed such as cost and requirements for club membership. As the present committee is operating in a caretaker capacity (not elected), we are unable to invoke any changes to the club rules or its constitution. Thus, the 2021 club membership fee will remain unchanged. It is worth noting that a lapse in club membership for two consecutive years will result in the requirement to reapply as a new member. I would ask that members continue their membership so we can have full participation at our next AGM where club membership issues and indeed any other issues can be resolved.

Once again the committee will continue to monitor and review the national circumstances as they evolve to enable us to plan for future club activities to resume when life returns to some normality post COVID-19.

Once again, keep safe and well.

Best regards,

Dermott Smith

GWOCI Caretaker Chairperson
